Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Collaborations in health services are pivotal for achieving SDG 3, ensuring good health and well-being. Partnerships across sectors enable shared knowledge, resources, and innovations, thus strengthening health systems, increasing access to care, and improving public health outcomes globally. Such synergies are essential for a healthier, equitable world.
Access to education is the right of all citizens. Universitas Indonesia as an educational institution has an obligation to play an active role in the fulfillment of this right. UI opens the widest possible access through UI Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) and open educational content. Each of our learning sites can be accessed free of charge by the general public. Participants will receive online lecture from faculty members, allowing them to explore reading materials and do exercises independently. At the end of the lecture, a quiz will be given to measure the extent to which the participants understand the materials given. At the end of the course, the participants who complete the course will receive a certificate and transcript. UI provides a wide selection of learning courses to suit the preferences of each participant. This is also a form of support for the Freedom to Learn program administered by the government of Indonesia. In addition, various faculties now have their own YouTube channels to facilitate live streaming when holding webinars. In addition to free access to learning resources, we also provide access to campus bus transportation and learning facilities, such as the library. The general public can access the digital collections in our library through the lib.ui.ac.id website and need to pay only IDR10,000 to borrow the physical books.

Specialized training is essential in creating experts in their respective fields. Universitas Indonesia is involved in several forms of vocational training both online and offline. In March 2021, Faculty of Psychology conducted online training for elementary school teachers in Cilangkap, West Java, aimed at preparing teachers with the skills and expertise to manage inclusive classes, namely classes with ordinary students and students with special needs. Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) also organized a specific webinar for radiographers. In addition, UI collaborated with the Teacher Forum in Foster Care for Muslim Children of Depok to train teachers to improve the literacy level of the children. Meanwhile, Faculty of Humanities (FIB) conducted online rapidtyping training (a method of typing Arabic scripts using 10 fingers) to Arabic language high school teachers in Depok. Faculty of Engineering (FT) also participated in conducting training on public speaking in December 2021.

Universitas Indonesia is actively involved in educational outreach activities beyond campus. Each faculty has its own community service department, indicating that this has indeed become the goal of the learning program. In addition to disseminating knowledge and training the target community, this is also a means for the involved students or faculty members to gain experience when interacting with external parties. UI believes that this is not only beneficial for the intended parties, but also for the students. This activity is a medium to build relationships with the community, allowing UI to be connected and learn from various perspectives. In 2021, Faculty of Humanities (FIB) conducted training about product packaging design to farmers in Olahsari Village to produce more attractive packaging for consumers, the UI Teaching Movement was held in Sumedang, Faculty of Engineering (FT) established a Technique Informal School that focuses on teaching activities free of charge, and Student Executive Board (BEM) of Vocational Program of UI planted mangroves in Eretan Kulon. Faculty of Public Health (FKM) also regularly organized community service programs, such as Interprofessional Social Services, Learning House for Children and Foster Siblings, Cadre Organization (OKK) Social Service, and Caring FKM UI.

Universitas Indonesia has policies aimed at ensuring that learning is accessible without discrimination. It is included in the nine (9) basic values of UI that uphold the value of tolerance regardless of ethnicity, religion, and race. In addition, UI also ensures its sustainability through the vision of UI in the 2020–2024 strategic plan. We also have a regulation ratified in 2008, namely UI Rector’s Decree Number 450/SK/R/UI/2008 concerning the implementation of e-learning to facilitate these activities and and UI Rector Regulation No. 6 of 2016 concerning the implementation of distance education. This decree specifies that UI is aware of the need for equity and improvement in the quality of education. The latest program of the government of Indonesia, the Independent Campus, has its guidelines stipulated in UI Rector’s Decree Number 561/SK/R/UI/2021.
