From November 8 to 10, 2022, Universitas Indonesia (UI) hosted the QS Higher Education Summit: Asia Pacific 2022 at the Intercontinental Hotel in South Jakarta. The event, held in collaboration with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Prince of Songkla University, aimed to address challenges and explore opportunities in higher education across the Asia-Pacific region. The summit brought together academic leaders, practitioners, and analysts from the region, and featured opening remarks by key figures such as Prof. Nigel Healey, Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, and UI Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro. Additionally, Indonesian dignitaries like Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, and Minister Nadiem Anwar Makarim contributed through speeches and discussions on education reforms, such as the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.

The summit included diverse discussions on sustainability, renewable energy, and regional collaboration, alongside the release of QS university rankings for Asia. Marketing and branding workshops were conducted by Tim Edwards of QS on November 9, 2022. The event concluded on November 10, with Prof. Healey and Prof. Abdul Harris officially closing the summit and passing the host title for the QS APAC 2023 event to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. UI also organized a campus tour for international guests, showcasing the university as a leading higher education institution in Indonesia.
